|

Morici Recognized as Super Lawyer

Attorney James (Jim) Morici Jr. has been named as a Super Lawyer for the tenth time (2006, 2014-2022) in recognition for his outstanding work as a Chicago personal injury attorney. This honor is especially gratifying to Jim as attorneys are selected based on peer nominations, peer reviews, and candidate research. The selection process is thorough, and only 5% of attorneys are amongst those named by Super Lawyers.

In investigating candidates and their backgrounds, Super Lawyers evaluates nominees based on the following criteria:

  • Legal experience
  • Verdicts/settlements
  • Representative clients
  • Honors and awards
  • Special licenses or certificates
  • Position within their firm
  • Pro bono and/or community service
  • Scholarly lectures and publications
  • Educational background
  • Employment history
  • Any other relevant achievements

About Attorney Morici

A founding partner of Morici, Longo & Associates, Morici has devoted over three decades to advocating for those injured due to someone else’s negligence. Looking at the Super Lawyer selection criteria, it’s not hard to understand why Morici is consistently included amongst the Super Lawyers Top Chicago Attorneys list. Morici’s success and recognition can be attributed to his:

  • Years of experience
  • Hard work and dedication to excellence
  • Heart for helping clients recover needed compensation
  • Case victories
  • Trial skills

Since he began his legal career in 1980, Morici has handled a vast number of cases and helped clients recover large settlements or verdicts. Some of his notable recoveries include:

  • $13 million on behalf of three workers injured in an industrial plant accident
  • $24 million on behalf of 11 brick layers in a construction site wall collapse incident
  • $15 million in a construction crane incident
  • $6 million in a plant explosion occurrence

Morici is known for not only maintaining his relationships with clients but also with other legal professionals, including insurance defense attorneys (including those he has opposed) and lawyers in the plaintiff’s bar. Despite his friendly reputation, he is an aggressive advocate for his injured clients. Morici’s primary practice is representing injured construction workers, and he has tried more cases under the principals of construction negligence than any other Illinois lawyer over the last 70 years.

Morici worked through college as a construction laborer and was a member of the Laborer’s union. Morici believes that his current hands-on legal approach can be credited to this work experience, and he enjoys handling construction accident cases because of the contracts involved as well as the experts and clients he gets to meet.

Before becoming an experienced personal injury attorney, Morici served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Cook County and handled major criminal cases. In recalling what he considers the biggest challenge of his career (his transition from criminal law to personal injury law), Morici said, “Mastering the medical to the point where in many instances I know more about particular structures of the anatomy and the injuries that can occur as a result of trauma than some doctors, took a long time. The results, however, have been tremendously rewarding allowing me to explain complex medical injuries to laypeople on various juries.”

In addition to being an experienced litigator, Morici is an adjacent Professor of Law. Currently, he teaches Trial Advocacy at Chicago-Kent College of Law, and in the past, has taught at John Marshall Law School and Loyola Law School. He has also taught and guided our staff since its inception.
