The Chicago personal injury law firm of Morici, Longo & Associates has been a supporter of “Have Dreams” for more than a decade. Last month, we celebrated the non-profit organization Have Dreams with the headline “Dreaming Big for Autism.” The event took place at Pinstripes in Northbrook on April 29th, and raised money for Have Dreams.
We have proudly supported Have Dreams for numerous years, and are elated to attend this year’s annual social event. In attendance were Partner James Morici, Associate Lisa Longo, as well as Beba Georgieva. Our team enjoyed a game of bocce ball, bid on our favorite silent auction items, and met members of the organization. We even got to spend some time with some of the kids that Have Dreams serves. The evening, venue and people were spectacular, and we at Morici, Longo & Associates are thrilled we had the opportunity to participate and look forward to supporting the organization’s September 11, 2017 golf outing.
The Have Dreams Mission
Have Dreams is a Chicago-area non-profit founded in 1996. Their mission is to help individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) realize their full potential through learning, socializing, and teaching them how to function independently. Their “haven of hope” offers children opportunities to interact and grow, as well as gain important life skills. Have Dreams offers services to children ranging in age from 16 months old until young adulthood, and who fall anywhere on the spectrum of autism.
Have Dreams was launched by parents and educators seeking to end the social isolation experienced by many children with ASD, and build a place in the community for them. Their innovative social skills programming was developed in coordination with the University of Chicago’s Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Development Disorder Clinic.
Today, Have Dreams serves over 150 youth in 23 Chicago-area communities. They provide 28 programs, which total over 1,000 hours a week in services. The organization helps children from 16 months to 5 years of age build the necessary skills to prepare for school. They offer important independent living skills, career coaching, and job training for young adults as well. Since opening, Have Dreams has also trained 6,000 educators, parents, and professionals in best autism spectrum practices.
