Morici, Longo & Associates Attorneys Make 2017 Illinois Super Lawyers

Morici, Longo & Associates
|

Morici, Longo & Associates would like to congratulate Attorney James J. Morici, Jr., Attorney David Figlioli, and Attorney Christopher C. Cortese for being selected to the 2017 list of Illinois Super Lawyers®. This exciting multi-lawyer achievement marks the sixth time Attorney Figlioli has been selected, the fifth selection for Attorney Morici, and the second selection into Super Lawyers® Rising Stars℠ for Attorney Cortese. As less than 5% of all attorneys will be selected to Super Lawyers® and only 2.5% can become Super Lawyers® Rising Stars℠, this is truly a moment for our law firm to be proud. Our clients know, more than ever, that Morici, Longo & Associates and our team of Chicago personal injury attorneys can be trusted in their times of need, no matter how complex or high-value a case may be.

Attorney Figlioli gave this statement in regards to this award and his career overall:

“As an athlete in both high school and college, I enjoyed the challenges of competing against a well prepared opponent, performing at your best in stressful situations, and the satisfaction of being successful. Being a trial lawyer is very similar to being an athlete and it has allowed me to continue to experience these same feelings when I represent my clients in order to make certain they are fairly and fully compensated for their injuries. I take great satisfaction in assisting my clients during their recovery from very serious injuries, both physically and financially. The greatest challenge I face in my role as a trial attorney in the areas of workers’ compensation and police and firefighter pension cases is to convince an injured individual that their greatest advocate and protector will be their attorney. Frequently, insurance companies and medical providers will not do what is best or right for that injured person. As an experienced and well qualified attorney in these practice areas, I make sure the needs of my clients come first and all decisions are made with their best interests in mind. I believe that is why I am successful as a trial attorney and why my clients confidently refer other injured individuals to me and my firm when those individuals suffer serious injuries and seek representation.”

This statement was also given about Attorney Morici’s accomplishments:

For more than a decade, managing partner Jim Morici, has been recognized by Super Lawyers® as a top-rated personal injury attorney in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Morici’s practice is predominantly focused in the representation of injured construction workers and he has tried more cases under the principals of construction negligence than any other Illinois lawyer over the last 20 years. When asked what his attraction is to that aspect of personal injury, he responded “I love all of the facets of large construction projects. I find the mechanics of the work, the contracts involved in the jobs, and the various people and experts that I meet most interesting.” He credits much of his hands-on approach to construction site injuries to the fact that he worked through college as a construction laborer and Laborers union member. It is part of Morici’s pedigree of union employment dating back to his days in high school as a member of the Retail Clerk’s Union and his college years working for United Parcel Service as a Union Teamster. Morici was asked what the biggest challenge has been during the course of his career. He recalled his transition more than 30 years ago from his work as an Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney handling major criminal felonies to becoming an expert in the field of personal injury law and the medicine applicable to the injuries of his clients. He said, “Mastering the medical to the point where in many instances I know more about particular structures of the anatomy and the injuries that can occur as a result of trauma than some doctors, took a long time. The results, however, have been tremendously rewarding, allowing me to explain complex medical injuries to laypeople on various juries.” It is easy to see the reasons for Morici’s success when one looks back on his long years of experience, hard work, and the sheer numbers of successful cases he has prosecuted on behalf of working men and women. In addition, his keen trial skills – he teaches Trial Advocacy at the Chicago-Kent College of Law and has formerly taught at Loyola Law School and the John Marshall Law School – are apparent in speaking with him or seeing him in action on trial or in deposition. A founding partner of Morici, Longo & Associates, one of Chicago’s premier personal injury and workers compensation firms, Morici has devoted over three decades to advocating for the seriously injured.
