We are happy to announce that the Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club of Chicago will be honoring numerous alumni and supporters, including our very own Attorney James J. Morici, at the 85th Anniversary and Hall of Fame Induction Banquet, which will be held on October 22.

As a former Chairman of the Board of Directors for the NBCG, Morici has been a longtime supporter of the organization. During his time at the NBCG, he helped develop and establish fundraising opportunities. In addition, he helped transform the organization into corporate giving after having been sponsored by a local business that halted its support when the NBCG relocated.

During Morici’s tenure, the organization recognized the increase in girl members and changed the historic name “Neighborhood Boys Club,” which had been the name since its establishment in 1931, to the “Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club.” Additionally, he played a vital role in the development of the scholarship program that assists youth volunteers who contribute to the program which provides weekend recreation, after-school care, and sports activities to more than 900 girls and boys ranging from ages 5 through 16.

When speaking about his experience with the organization, Morici explained, “I really love the program they provided when I was a kid and continued my involvement with the organization as a way of giving back to my community. I appreciated some scholarships that I got during law school and so contributing to the NBGC Scholarship Program was an easy thing for me to do.” He stated that he believes the program allows for the creation of a social fabric among the parents and children of the neighborhood. Morici added, “I really enjoy contributing to such a fine organization and to be recognized by them and inducted into their Hall of Fame is very humbling and gratifying.”
